In fashion jewelry manufacturing, there are three commonly seen types of the post/stick part design. To the customers they may not even notice the difference at the beginning, but to the brand owners, this may be very critical to the quality of your design.

#1 The Lowest Cost (circled in red): Brass body part with brass post, and plating them together.

In this type, you are not able to tell the difference from the look, because the products are plated after assembled. The problem of this type is that the wearers are easily get allergic reaction because some of the metal elements in the alloy post are hyper-allergic.

 

#2 Responsible But A Bit Lazy (circled in white): Brass body part, to weld with a sterling silver 925 post/stick after plating.
In this type, you’ll save the product cost by using brass as the body part which takes a big amount of the weight and design (pictures below)
and also prevent your customers from getting allergic by using a sterling silver post part. But in order to save the cost of plating, because plating a design assembled with two different material (brass and sterling silver) takes a lot extra works, manufacturers sometimes only weld the post/stick onto the body part after plating. This method save the cost but leaves your design a strange double colors looking in the end, which may not be very nice.
#3 Mixed and Nicely Done (circled in blue): Brass body part, and have the plating after the assembling with a sterling silver 925 post/stick

As a responsible manufacturer, this is the correct answer in an alloy design fashion jewelry earrings. Plating the mix-materials assembled product is costly and tricky because you need to cover one material to complete another material’s plating preparation (some process may not be needed the other material)
